My name is Richard Clark and I am working on an art training facility to help talented people that may not be able to afford art school to find a way to utilize their talents to obtain employment.
Senator Graham is supporting me in my efforts in helping to train people to help themselves and we are seeking letters of support from the community to get their thoughts on this facility.
I am starting a non profit art program to help train high school kids to adults that have lots of artistic ability but have never been able to get that connection or afford art school.
In this program we will teach them more of the commercial art side of the business to create a way for them to use their talents as a way of obtaining employment.
They will be taught every aspect of screen printing, signage, magazine layout, airbrushing, set design, illustration or whatever program they choose. Along with this they will also be taught the proper resume building formats as well as how to conduct a proper interview. This Program will also help with job placement nationwide to bring to business owners employees they can depend on to complete every project on time; everytime.
This is to help less fortunate individuals so their talents are not wasted. We will also allow the students to hold art exhibitions to sell their work and utilize our screen printing and sign making abilities to support the school after the initial investment of opening the facility is obtained on a local basis.
It is my understanding that a person that are filled with artistic ability and creativity have a harder time holding down industrial jobs such as factory work and others. It seems with such a creative mind; artistic individuals become bored and therefore do not seem to hold down these jobs for very long. By designing a program that allows these individuals to use their talents and gifts it will allow the individual to obtain employment in a field where they can use their creativity and put them in a suitable job market for long term employment.
Admissions will be by referral from High School Art and Guidance Offices as well as the Employment Security Commission and the Department Of Social Services. I have over 20 years experience in signs, and screen printing and I know what I would hire so I am looking for individuals that will be the team player you are looking for.
This will be an absolutely free class for those individuals that need it and the funding of the school will be by the products turned out by the individuals in training. They will be able to market, sell, fabricate and install all types of commercial signage and vehicle lettering, as well as a full screen printing dept. A monthly publication will also be produced and will sale subscriptions and advertising. All proceeds will be used to support the school. Also by having a strict schedule and projects that demand deadlines individuals will be trained in real world working conditions to prepare them and give them the work ethic that will be expected in the work place.
When it comes to art, I have done it all, from commercial to fine, and have work featured in movies, magazines, on tv and for celebrities. I own stores in NC, SC, FL and Los Angeles. When I came out of high school I had a full scholarship offer for the Parsons School of Art in NY and The Art Institute and internship offers with Marvel and Disney. However; I had enlisted in the Infantry and the Army would not let me get out of my contract, lol. I just want to teach people to help themselves and to give a format that I know in which to do that.
I built what I have through a lot of hard work and making my way without any handouts or miracle chances and it was a struggle. I want to help talented individuals use their talents without the struggles and sacrifices I have had to make.
